The dreaded ∞ Circle Eight ∞.
Have you ever been in that dreadful position when you realize that the task at hand or company you’re
currently working for, or even relationship that you are currently involved in is DOOMED?
Ugh. It really can be a terrible feeling. It can almost be as severe as taking away your purpose in life.
All those crazy thoughts swimming around inside your head…
“But I’ve spent so much time on this project to just give up”
” I’ve invested so much in this company, time and money, it has to work”
” We don’t really have too much in common but at least we are friends.”
What if your gut of guts is telling you to BAIL OUT!
Telling you crazy little things like ~
“This is too much work, seriously just throw in the towel.”
“What is the matter with you? Please cut your losses already!”
“You deserve SO much better than this.”

So you’re stuck between two ‘no win’ situations.
Here’s he bright side. We’ve all had those little devil voices inside talking to us.
And on occasion that little devil might even get the best of us.
Its part of life.
To be even more accurate, I propose we actually NEED this internal struggle to give
us problems to deal with in life. I even wrote a blog post about this subject a couple
weeks back. Check out Why We Need Problems.
Without these little challenges in life we just flat out would have no reason
to grow and learn. And quite frankly, how much fun would life be if there was no growth?
If we had nothing to look forward to?
If every day was the same? Day in and day out?
Like that great Bill Murray movie Groundhog Day.
So, at long last. Whats the point Matt?
Well, Bill Murray’s character in Groundhog Day, Phil, figured it out brilliantly and quite by
accident I believe.
Take a deep breathe in and look at your current situation and try something new.
If you plans aren’t working try something new.
Its really that simple. Really examine what you are doing and if you want different
results you must really change your actions.
So, if you’re consistently not getting sales or leads? Don’t do the same old school methods
of sales. If you’re tired of attracting the same dead end relationships or people into your
life maybe take a look at yourself and change a few things.
But do yourself a favor. Have fun with changing your plans until you get it right and learn
as you go. I know I try to, and it really does work.
Yours in Fun and Adventure,
Matthew Miller

Love the Ground Hog day Analogy! Great to see you get this out there.

I love this post Matty! It’s so true and thank god Bill Murray finally broke the pattern….if you keep on doing the same thing you will ALWAYS get the same result which = insanity.
Keep on bringing the good stuff!

So true, thanks Matty! Change (ie. growth) is evidence that we’re living, right? It is not always easy, especially when you’ve really poured your heart into something, but I think almost everyone can agree that after the dust settles, the possibility and potential of the new situation start to make sense. There is indeed a divine order to things….:)

You gottit Beth. Its not always easy, but definitely worth enjoying every part of it. Thanks for stopping by. I am LOVING your blog BTW. Keep it up.
Bill Murray is basically the best. And what do the best do? They figure it out.
Thank you Bill.
And thank you Eleni.
Ya, funny huh? This Groundhog day comparison wasn’t really planned. It just kind of crept into my blogpost. I think I might be haunted by Bill Murray. He keeps plugging himself on my blog!
I just like the dog in the tree. =)
Matty, great post! We all seem to throw good after bad, unable to face certain situations. Rather than confront someone or something, we stick our head in the sand and hope it goes away. Never seems to though. Sounds so simple to just change your plans. Gotta give that a try.
Thanks for the ideas,
Bryan
Matthew, great post! One must learn learn to roll with the punches! DR
I absolutely LOVE rolling with the punches. Thanks for popping by buddy.
What a really incredible post especially after our conversation about the Landmark Forum. Sorry I got so long winded on the Tribe call…. but when it comes to personal growth and transformation, as you can tell… I am pretty passionate.
Lord knows I have had my share of problems and used to look at them as such…. but now like you, I look forward to the growth of the challenges that get presented to me!
Thanks for sharing!

Anytime my friend. I was loving our conversation and look forward to MORE. Thanks for the kind words. Life Is Good.
Hi Mathew, I can totally relate to this post. so many times we get involved in a project and after it’s taking too long we want to just bag it all. You’re right though usually we can just reassess our methods until we get it right.

Great words of wisdom Matt. I like to refer to the “Groundhog Day” movie when I see the same ol’ pattern in something. The only thing that is constant is change. I agree that we are forever learning and growing to new heights. Thanks for the reminder and what a cute pic of the dog!
Hey Matt,
You bring up an age old problem that gets overlooked sometimes. If it’s not working, try something else! So simple, yet so easily forgotten.
Thanks for the great reminder,

Hey Matt,
Great post man, I can soooo relate. You got it man, results change when we change out actions. Sometimes that’s hard to see with all that ego.

Hi Matt,
Great post that is easy to read but hard to apply. I’m not sure why we can’t pull the plug when we are so obviously not getting there, but it is, isn’t it? Thanks for reminding me that I just need to do it!
Talk to you soon.

No way! It’s not hard at all to do. Remember Yoda? Do or Do not. There is no try… I love that one. Thnx for. Stopping by Debbie.
Almost Edisonian in appearance huh?
Ya ya ya. I love Bill Murray in that movie. He did it! He figured it out! And you can too! Great message.
Hi Matt:
You are so right on…”If your plans aren’t working…try something new!” So often, our gut…our feelings give us a yes or no about what is going on in our life and also, glimpses as to whether the “New” plan has merit.
Great post!
Linda.
Hi Matt,
Yes the “devil voices” will always be there, we just need to learn to quiten them down and ignore them.
Here’s to trying something new!

Snappy fabulous post Matt! Loved it!

Couldnt agree more with the NEED for internal struggle to give
us problems to deal with in life, I think they call it contrast, shifts us into action to make the changes. Great reminder Matt!
