Wild Wild West of Video Blogging

I’ve been a film and television editor for 10 years now.
I started my editing career in New York City in the late 90′s.
It was a blast working on old Apple 8600′s doing non linear
editing on Avid’s Media Composer for MTV animation.

I’ve come a long way since then and I’ve done a lot
of video editing. You can see my credits for
yourself at my IMDB page. Some good stuff… some, maybe
not so interesting stuff.

Basically, what that means is I’ve seen the evolution
of online video from the insiders perspective grow to what
it is today.

What is it today?  Well, I’ll tell you what its NOT.  There is no gatekeeper
anymore who can tell you what you CAN or CAN’T create and
pipe out to the MILLIONS of people online. ( For Free BTW ) That
scary dude in the suit who says that YOUR story won’t sell or no one
wants to listen to you can basically go shove it.

We are now the Hollywood BIG WIGS or quite possibly
just a really great resource for video hot tips on something
I need to learn how to do. My point is, if you have something
unique and of importance to capture on video and share with
us. We want to see it. If for nothing else than to learn about you!
Needless to say its fun.

I’ve been creating TV shows for awhile, and I find it to be really
fun and rewarding. Nowadays, everyone around me is calling me
up for advice on how to use their Imovie on their new Imac.

Its really quite fascinating to see this progression from inacessible
to extremely accessible. This is really a New Media World we’re living
in and this truly is the transition from the industrial age to the
information age.

Get out there and be the Executive of YOURNAMEHEREVIDEOBLOG.com.

I don’t think people are quite grasping the power of
what video blogging really can do or will do to all of us.

A few of my favorites out there.

It’s fabulous to be getting to know a super star of the wlid west! ;)

Very cool background ~ your insights will be a treasure, Matty. I completely agree when you say that it’s “fascinating to see the progression from inaccessible to extremely accessible.” I really can’t imagine where it will be even a few years from now, but I’m happy to be doing my best to get in the game and learn as much as I can (and have fun doing it!) so that by the time my son is 5 he’s not embarrassed by how un-savvy I am technologically! (or wil he?) ;)

It really is ‘The Wild Wild West’ in the on-line video world. Still a new fronteer that anyone can partake in and anyone can benefit from. I love watching videos to learn new things and, like you said, just to meet new people. There are people from all over the world that we meet in our social networks, but there’s nothing like a video to actually get to know them. Video is the way to go in the blogging world. It may take a little bit of guts for some, but every blogger needs to take advantage of video.

Thank Matt!

You totally hit the nail on the head with your comment “I don’t think people are quite grasping the power of what video blogging really can do or will do to all of us”. This is truly and art form for more bloggers to take seriously and incorporate with their current content to give their reader that extra touch.

Thank you Matthew for taking the time to write this needed article, now let spread the word and start leveraging the power of Video Blogging.

Matty,

There is so much truth in this post! I am still not even close to being where I want to be using video. I tend to get camera shy. But I did stick my foot in to see how the water was a few times… just haven`t dove completely in yet.

Thanks so much for your contribution and encouragement for all of us tro get out there and just do it!

Live a Juicy Life,

Susan

Matthew,
I appreciate this info as I’ve just begun blogging and am still leery of putting together a video. Yeah, holding out. :)

You’re right though, there is no right or wrong way…just a matter of doing it my way and being honest plus having lots of fun!

Thanks again,
Val
